Rajiv, who is an actor, did not face any opposition from his artiste parents Devdas and Lakshmi. "Myparents faced a similar problem as they had a inter-caste marriage," Rajiv explains. "They were co-operation personified. The main problem came from Suma's parents, who were initially upset that their daughter was marrying a non-Malayalee. After the initial resistance however, they gave in."

For Suma, a television anchor, it was quite an experience. "I went through a tough time convincing my parents. They were a wee bit apprehensive about me marrying an Andhra boy.

There are of course differences in caste, culture, language and background. But I was firm and managed to get a positive response from my parents who decided to check with my grand mother. Surprisingly my grand mother immediately gave a nod to my marriage."
Suma says the age between 20 to 25 years is crucial for women in the entertainment industry. "This is also the time when girls would like to settle down. In most cases, however, parents oppose this and force them to continue working. This results in lot of frustration for the girl. At this point of time, they are vulnerable and trust anyone offering even a little comfort or sympathy. And end up taking a wrong decision. Parents of the girls should take their daughter's feelings into consideration," Suma comments.
Popular TV personalities Joginaidu and Jhansi also faced some problems before getting married. "We were very young when we got married," Joginaidu explains. "She was 18 and I was 22. Our parents were worried about how we would manage on our small salaries. I was an Assistant Director and Jhansi was trying to make a mark as an anchor. We, however, assured them that we would manage and reach our goals. For few months, there was mild tension. Then everything fell in place. And now our parents are perfectly happy with our career choices."

Shilpa Chakraborthy:She is known for loud voice. Although a Bengali by birth, she speaks Telugu in such a way that even native Telugus would feel envy about her. She anchors a few live shows on TV as her spontaneity, energy and certainty of wit suits the requirement. As a rough estimate she bags around Rs. 1.5 lakh per month.
Uday Bhanu:She is known for her Tom Boy nature and always given the shows relating to adventure and dance. She also anchors a popular Gold Contest for a channel. Youngsters would like this dame better than those of family ladies. A rough estimate says that she earns around Rs. 2 lakhs per month on a whole including stage shows.
Suma:She anchors the most famous program 'Avakkayyara' and has been winning the hearts of many family ladies. She is also known for her acting abilities and never fading youth appeal in her face and personality. An estimate says that she earns around 2.5 laks per month. Jhansi is really versatile actress and stands first among all the tv anchors. Why so? if you see some of her movies like Family circus and other movies she enacted some of roles that none can replace her. Udaya Bhanu is a talented anchor and actor too. Unfortunately she could not be utilized in the telugu film industry. She had to adjust with her half a dozen roles in the movies. You can watch her in the nuvvu naaku nachchavu song, group song.She pulls crowd to her programs for years together, because of her ease of doing dances and action and anchoring. She is given always dance baby dance , saahasam cheyara dimbhaka, once more please like programs, where she has to tour a lot. Her spontaneous reactions, extempore commentary is appreciated.

Yesterday (25th October 2004) witnessed the marriage of two popular TV anchors - Udaya Bhanu and Shilpa Chakravarthy. Both of them were separate incidents, and ran into contrversies as the elders of both the girls were against the marriages.

The issue is more serious in Udaya Bhanu's case as she even demanded police protection for herself after big fight broke out at her place

Telugu TV programs Bad practices:
Two types of telugu tv programs we can see. One is all programs together and another one is just only music. This only music (no noise) is owned by aditya tv and it will have anchors like raj, etc. These people are very young around 28 years and work part time. Mot of the time, they will be chatting online with the callers and spend time like this and show some movie songs in this. This chat goes like anything.. some times we wonder where this is going.. like any chat room menace, in this too, some people daily appear and sing few songs and describe about it and the anchor thanks them and praises them. Another caller regularly passes some social message as if he is the best philanthropist and he will be treated guru for the anchors. So this way all the programs are slowly going towards monotany and move in limited circle in congestion. The program sangathemitante is ok because it says about some topic. In only one program at afternoon the new movie songs will be shown.These people have , or the producers have, a larger responsibility to increase the Telugu topics beyond andhra.. They never think about NRI telugus, other countries, other areas like business, books ,travel etc. Once in general programs udayabhanu was showing some mobile clips, which went bore and adult oriented. All the senders are flicking clips from flcker , metacafe and sending to the tv and the anchor is showing. It was quite embarssing to see some of the obscene clips shown by udaya bhanu. This program is from Maa tv.
This is somewhat ok, but the Hyderabad FM radio programs go beyond rhym and rhythm, once i heard the radio jackies talking what ever nonsense they feel. They have no protocol about speaking to a caller, no good background nor ethics, some idle guys , it seems , were caught and given the job of conducting the radio program. Once upon a time, the radio programs by all india radio from vijayawada and hyderabad were very standard and the announcers used to be very respectable , artists. Now to qualification for vj and radio jackies and they speak all nonsense which they can not in their home as their father or elder brother would thrash them immidiately.
